Keep motivated!

As writers we all have those times when we want to write but can get motivated.  Here are some tips that I use to get me in the groove:

1. Make time everyday to do something. Even if it is just 10 to 15 minutes I write a sentence or just few words this will keep my mind fresh. Schedule a certain time if I need to. I find my peak times when I feel creative and energetic but if you are one who likes to finish what you start be sure to pace yourself and allow enough time that you don't feel rushed and are able to give it your best.
2. I Keep a pen and paper close by at all times to write down my ideas as the come to me Meditate on these ideas through-out the day.
3. As for me when gathering ideas for my blog I like listening to the radio or a sermon and something catches my attention I jot it down then go back and research verses from the bible. Then, when I am stumped, I can go back and look at my ideas.

Here are some more tips that might help you:

1. If you have several ideas and can't decide on one, bounce them off someone who you trust. They may inspire you.

2. Make yourself accountable. Find a close friend or family member that will call to see how far you have gotten and will give encouragement. They can also help you with your strengths and weaknesses
3. Remember, we as writers all have times where the ideas do not come. Find you that quiet spot. Put on your favorite music in background. Relax and don't force it and the ideas will come.

February's writers meeting

This month's meeting was amazing! We learned some great tips from this seasoned author. She shared her writing and publishing experiences and gave us some great advise on things we could do to avoid the pitfalls that she encountered in her learning process. These meetings are so informative! You will always leave with so much more knowledge than you came in with.

Plus, the networking is out of this world! It is always a great idea to get to know other people in your area that have the same interests as you. Even if it's just for moral support. At our meetings, we have writers, authors, publishers, illustrators, and marketing experts. Whoever you might need to talk with about a certain problem you're having is right there, ready to give you advise and support.

Come on out next month and join our little group.

Here is a link to the live video of the meeting. The first part has some chatter from the other group that was there eating, but it gets quieter after a few minutes.

The Write Scene: Character Creation and World Building 01/17/17

Character Creation and World Building 01/17/17

Sharon Moore shared some very valuable information about creating your characters and keeping them consistent throughout your entire book. Sometimes we can read about a character in the beginning of a book and by the end of the book the character is slightly different. It really messes with the mental character image that you have been seeing in your mind up until this poing. It makes you want to put the book down and never pick it up again. Be careful to be consistent!

She also walked us through some world building advice that could make or break your books image. If you have a different world than earth, you will definitely need to keep it consistent throughout the book or novel. If you have several books in a series, they all need to be giving the same information from beginning to end.
